Jehovah Mekoddishkem / My body, broken for you.

$300.00

Oil on canvas, with composite gold leaf | 16×16

In the halo, fructose molecules mingle with ethanol and carbon dioxide: the before and after of a transformational process that happens when grapes or wheat meet yeast after being crushed. All essential elements - carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen - remain, and yet are transfigured into something that has a profoundly different effect on those who encounter it.

Pieces of torn bread - the body of Christ - cover the plate and are taken by hands - also the body of Christ. We come to the table already transformed, to be continually transfigured by the God who was broken and renewed on our behalf.
