YHWH / this body a tent | Original Oil Painting
Oil on canvas, composite gold leaf
Gold thunders through the cloud and swirls around the tabernacle, enveloping Bezalel himself in vapors as he paints. Throughout Exodus, the Lord’s presence is seen as a cloud, and it doesn’t stop after he leads his people out of Egypt. Indeed, in Exodus, we see that the Lord made his presence in the tabernacle known by hovering over it as a cloud.
Our understanding of the tabernacle is crucial to our understanding of the Holy Spirit. The tabernacle is where God made a home with man, but it was never meant to be the end all be all. From the beginning of the Bible to the end, we were set apart for holiness, for connection, for closeness. As believers indwelt by the Holy Spirit, we are the tabernacle.
